PRINCIPLE PURPOSE OF JOB
To assist the Quality Manager and management team to actively drive and improve quality standards and aspire to the highest possible standards within the company. To work within a framework of legality and health and safety to actively promote continuous improvement in the business. Key accountabilities Responsible for the NCR process from concern to close out. Takes responsibility for supplier recovery on both internal reject parts and field failures returned. Represent the Quality Department in the new part introduction process. Represent the company at customer meetings and audits as required. Involved in the factory safety process Deputise in the absence of the Quality Manager. Duties Take supplier concerns from manufacturing process to supplier and follow structured problem solving process to closure, ensuring total preventative measures are implemented and costs are recovered. Such health and safety duties as are required. Audit supplier base for current and potential new suppliers. Maintain records for all suppliers including records of supplier audits, approvals, non conformances, initial part-approvals. Full use of quality tools, FMEA, SPC, APQP, control plans and 8D. Conduct internal process and product audits to maintain ISO 9001:2008 accreditation. Drive Improvements in the Quality system. Warranty, Scrap and rework reduction. Customer and supplier liaison. Oversee new part introduction with all suppliers through to successful completion of PPAP to Grayson before start of production. Manage supplier quality performance metrics and distribute internally and to suppliers each month. Assess the risks to the company and agree action plans to improve or replace poor performing suppliers. Carry out measurement and analysis of results on supplier parts as required. Any other duties as required by the Quality Manager.
Qualifications, experience Capable of first principle measurement techniques Three years experience of quality engineering essential Three years experience of internal auditing to ISO 9000 Experience of supplier quality engineering MSA Development, calibration & metrology equipment competency Automotive/mechanical engineering background preferred. Personal skills Capable problem solver, preferably with 8D or Six Sigma experience Questioning personality, quick thinker and fast response to problem solving Analytical ability and ability to identify faults Reliable and enthusiastic Self motivated Good communicator A true passion for quality. Working Hours: 8:00 to 17:00 – Monday to Thursday/8:00 to 15:00 – Friday Work Location: Wharf/Wharfdale Rd, Tyseley, other sites as required Reporting to: Quality Manager Objectives – first 6 months probationary period: Grayson Understand the business and its customer base Understand the manufacturing processes Understand the product ranges. Warranty To understand the warranty processing system/demonstrate a level of competency. Ensure warranty system is capable of producing detailed reports including Service Recharge, Campaign Charges, Customer credits, Supplied Parts Cost Recovery, Scrap Receipts. OE Customer Complaints. (Production Line Failures) Demonstrate understanding of process to ensure all customer complaints are received reported and responded to in the prescribed time. Ensure corrective actions are implemented and documented. Supplier Management Demonstrate understanding and level of competency to ensure reported defective material is reported to suppliers and costs recorded/recovered.
